xpointTM allows Lifecycles of all types to be configured to meet customers’ needs.
Many customers use an IT Infrastructure Lifecycle to support the management of enhancements to the IT Infrastructure. For example an infrastructure refresh ready for an SAP migration, or building a new data-center.
IT Projects teams using this Lifecycle benefit from having a core set of steps, prompts, deliverables and tools to prompt their thinking and approach. The IT Infrastructure lifecycle could look like:

This project lifecycle will typically have many technical tasks. For example in the Define Design Phase, a project’s LPAR is defined, the Technical Design Architect approves these, server and storage requirements are calculated, etc. When these tasks are understood and completed, a supplier can be notified that the work is ready to start, and timescales agreed. The supplier can then update the tasks/deliverables as the build and configuration progresses against key milestones. This ensures all members of the extended team are updated on progress and issues throughout the Project.
Having a standard ‘language’, phases and deliverables, some of which may be mandatory, some of which are optional, will enable multiple knowledge-workers to collaborate, coordinate and deliver these projects in a far more integrated and coherent manner.
